About Sharon Gatonye
I’m an established Nairobi food stylist & my background as a trained chef and product developer means that I bring a wealth of experience to every shoot.
As a child, I enjoyed decorating cakes, collecting chipped bowls and vintage cups. There was no connection between the two interests until the day I discovered food styling. I immediately connected the dots and immediately realized this is what I wanted to do.
I knew from an early age that I always wanted to work with food and I remember hurrying home after school to catch the cooking shows on television and scribble down recipes. I have always been a food person and the kitchen has been my safe haven.
At the age of 17 I joined the Institute of Culinary Arts in Stellenbosch, South Africa to train as a chef. And specialized in food media in my final year, even though I am very shy and timid about conducting presentations.
I have worked as a food stylist in Cape Town and Nairobi. I bring with me a multi cultural wealth of culinary experience, food styling knowledge and kitchen skills that are fundamental to the business of food styling.
